Sweet thoughts from my kids

Oct 30, 2009 under Kids, Weekly meme | 11 Comments

My hands are full. I can’t even cook a decent meal because of my busy schedule since last week. I’m just a lucky gal I have my best bud and hubby around to help me out with my workload at home. He’s a sweetheart. I’m having my coffee break here while posting my Mommy Moments entry today. After this I’m back to my ‘work mode’ again. To my online friends, forgive me for not visiting your site as often as I should. I hope everything (that includes joining memes again) will go back to normal after my ‘assignment’.

Anyway, I got two letters from my daughter and son; one is written on Mother’s Day and the other one on my birthday. Every letter or card they wrote for me or their Dad was filled with sweet thoughts and somehow reflects the kind of person we are nurturing in them… These little mementos are precious gifts for me.

Backup, Share and earn using MissUpload

Oct 28, 2009 under Review | 1 Comment

I’m currently assisting my friend finish her home based transcribing job. My main concern is how to protect the files from being corrupted while transmitting them through the e-mail. I discover a hassle-free transfer tool called MissUpload that provides users with up to 5000 MB of storage. It offers online storage/remote backup capacity and sophisticated uploading and downloading tools. You can upload and share data, music, photos and videos to your friends for as long as they do not contain pornographic material, nudity, sexual images, any kinds of offensive stuff and copyrighted material. Possibilities are endless with the free upload file. I heard that aside from the large space provided to subscribers, patrons may also earn from a reward system whereby online activity is redeemable for cash. Users who reach 1000 unique downloads are rewarded $10 that is paid using PayPal. To find out more about the extra perk please visit missupload.com now.

Hugging promotes wellness

Oct 28, 2009 under Health | 6 Comments
Today’s motivation for mom says:

For me hugging and kissing my kids do not only comfort or pacify their weary hearts but assure them how much I love them even if there are moments when mommy is in terrible mood. I asked my son if it is important for a child to be hugged and kissed by a mom. In a deep thought he said, it (hugging) gives the child the feeling that he is important and loved.

I’m sharing a note on the benefits of hugging:

Hugging is not only a nice way to start the day, but it’s also necessary for our positive physical and emotional well-being, according to recent research.
Benefits for kids
Various experiments have shown that hugging can make people feel better about themselves, positively affect children’s language skills and IQ, and help improve the mental outlook of the person who is being hugged, as well as the hugger. According to author, nurse and hug expert Kathleen Keating in The Hug Therapy Book, hugging is a very special form of touch therapy that significantly contributes to the way a person heals, and his/her overall health.

Benefits for couples
Another true-life example is given by David Bresler, Ph.D, former director of UCLA’s Pain Control Clinic, who instructed a female patient suffering from reoccurring pain to receive four hugs a day administered by her husband. Once her hugging therapy began, the patient’s pain subsided. Touch therapy expert Helen Colton says that touch is a basic healing need sometimes even more vital than medication. Colton’s observations indicate that when a person’s need for hugging is satisfied, he becomes physically and emotionally stronger and better able to handle problems or traumas.

Go and give your kids and hubby a hug. I’ll do my share after this. :)

Cheapest used car

Oct 28, 2009 under Review | 2 Comments

I think I found what I’ve been looking for. An online store for the cheapest used cars. At BuyYourCar.co.uk, we can choose from a wide range of used cars, car leasing, contract hire and van leasing and you can definitely inquire about New Cars. The company of three years is not your ordinary company that sells second-hand cars, BuyYourCar.co.uk provides potential clients to search and enquire anything about the car they got interested in. The website also offers independent Car Reviews and links to competitive loans and insurance. They also guaranteed that the cost of their second hand cars is competitive

As hot as Arizona

Oct 28, 2009 under Review | No Comment Yet

One of my office mate friends is planning to relocate in the U.S. to join her family in New Jersey. She was asking me if I knew a place in the US where the weather or the climate resembles the Philippines. The first state that came to mind is Arizona. I read somewhere that our tropical climate is somewhat similar to Arizona. If that’s the case I want to settle down there in the future. As for the hot or humid season I can address that by putting ornamental plants inside my future home. And to make my front yard presentable I might look for a landscape design in Scottsdale AZ.

Don’t miss Accor Hotels’ 3-day Super Sale!’

Oct 28, 2009 under Review | No Comment Yet
A view inside the classy Sofitel Hotel in the Philippines

Ms. Sheila, the boss of my friend from NEDA, is currently taking her doctorate program in New Zealand I wonder if the lady knows about the Accor Hotels 3-Day Super Sale Asia Pacific - that is over one million hotel rooms on sale. She will be staying in New Zealand until Dec. 2 before she goes back to the Philippines for further research/interview. She will definitely enjoy the hotel rates starting for as low as US$30 per night with the hotel of her choice namely Sofitel, Pullman, Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, All Seasons and Ibis hotels. But she can only take advantage of this amazing rate if she will book on-line between October 27 to 30, 2009. And if her stay in the Land of the Long White Cloud is extended beyond Christmas Season or Valentine’s Day she will definitely have a blast because the stay period will be from Dec. 2009 to April 2010. The Accor promotion coincides with record-low air fares across the Asia Pacific region, allowing travellers like Ms. Sheila to enjoy some of the world’s most exciting cities at bargain rates. Accor being a major global group and European leader in hotel business takes pride in offering its service to corporate clients and public institutions for over 40 years.

No more cemetery to visit

Oct 27, 2009 under Holidays | 4 Comments
I grew up in the Catholic tradition of visiting the cemetery every Nov. 1. We would brave the crowd just to bring flowers and candles for our departed loved ones. The occasion itself serves as family reunion to us. I remember my mom and aunts would cook sumptuous “sinigang’ or ‘nilagang baboyfor lunch. In the afternoon, my mother would cook ‘kakanin’ usually ‘biko’ for our snack before we head to the cemetery.
It’s just sad that we no longer practice the tradition at present. It’s because there are no tombs to visit anymore. The area where once the cemetery stood for decades is now the haven of a big commercial establishment. My uncle failed to recover what was left of the remains of my grandparents. Oddly enough, the commercial area in Alabang is reportedly haunted by ghosts. My uncle was able to secure a ceremonial place for my lolo and lola at the next town’s cemetery.
So for many years now my family observed All Saint’s Day at home. I would lit a candle beside the picture of my grandparents and say a little prayer for them. Now that I have a family of my own I still want my kids to understand that with or without a cemetery to visit we can observe the occasion and remember our departed loved ones at home. I also lit some candles outside our door. This is also a common practice of those who practice the Catholic faith. The light from the candle is believed to guide the path of the spirits to the other side.
Aside from hearing the stories about their late great grandparents my kids also love to hear ghost stories during the occasion. Maybe they got the fancy for horror and supernatural stories from me since I grew up watching horror flicks despite my being so ‘duwag’ or frightened of creepy characters.

There are a lot of fond childhood memories to share but a single entry is not enough to accommodate all of them maybe some other time. How about you, how will you spend or celebrate All Saint’s Day this year?

Tickets!

Daddy just bought the tickets to MJ movie this afternoon and have it scanned right away. Take a look. We decided to watch the movie on Saturday and that will be four days from now. Yey!  \(^_^)/

‘This is it’

Oct 26, 2009 under Kids | 5 Comments

My daughter couldn’t contain her excitement to watch Michael Jackson’s ‘This is it’ movie on Wednesday. She started saving up for the tickets last month. It will be a mother-daughter date since my son is not interested to join us. Hubby will buy the tickets for us tomorrow. Prior to this my daughter made a sort of deal with me. She promised to do well on her second quarterly tests in exchange for my approval to allow her to see the movie. Any parent couldn’t turn down a request coming from an obedient daughter like mine besides she really made an effort to raise the money. She got a total of P288 more than enough to buy the tickets and some change for our fare going to the mall.

A big Michael Jackson fan that she is, she sure write all her thoughts down in her diary after the event.

Bonding with Dad

My son spend sometime with his dad assembling foldabot characters (cut out patterns)yesterday. The photos are dim because I took the images using my cellphone (sorry we don’t have a camera right now). Khalil has a knack for assembling/disassembling (without returning to its original state, lol) small toys. Both son and dad had fun doing this…

We’re In Love

Oct 24, 2009 under Weekly meme | 9 Comments

He asked me once….

The One You Love – Glenn Frey Music Code
The One You Love
(Gleen Frey)
I know you need a friend, someone you can talk
Who will understand what you’re going through
When it comes to love, there’s no easy answer
Only you can say what you’re gonna do
I heard you on the phone, you took his number
Said you weren’t alone, but you’d call him
Isn’t he the guy, the guy who left you cryin’?
Isn’t he the one who made you blue?
When you remember those nights in his arms
You know you gotta make up your mind
Are you gonna stay with the one who loves you
Or are you goin’ back to the one you love?
Someone’s gonna cry when they know they’ve lost you
Someone’s gonna thank the stars above
What you gonna say when he comes over?
There’s no easy way to see this through
All the broken dreams, all the disappointment
Oh girl, what you gonna do?
Your heart keeps sayin’ it’s just not fair
But still you gotta make up your mind
Are you gonna stay with the one who loves you
Or are you goin’ back to the one you love?
Someone’s gonna cry when they know they’ve lost you
Someone’s gonna thank the stars above

My reply…still unsure of myself then….

If I Believed – Carol Banawa Music Code
If I believed
(Patti Austin)
if I believed in paradise
I’d swear I must be there
I’d swear I must be there right now with you
if I believed in miracles
I’d know that one was happening to me
but if I don’t believe in paradise
and miracles aren’t real
then someone tell me
what is this I feel
I wanna believe it’s love this time
I wanna believe my heart’s not telling me a lie
but with you I can’t deny
that ifI believed in paradise
I’d swear I’m there
if I believed in magic spells
it all would be so clear
a magic spell must have brought you here
if I could see the future
I’d see if you and I were meant to be
but I don’t know any magic
and tomorrow’s just a dream
then something in this fantasy is real
(repeat chorus)
I wanna believe it’s love this time
I wanna believe my heart’s not telling me a lie
I wanna believe it’s love
I wanna believe my heart’s not telling me a lie
but with you I can’t deny
that ifI believed in paradise
I’d swear I’m there
I’m there
I’m there
if I believed

….I just want someone who will love me for who I am…He was there in my lowest moment…he give me another reason to trust and believe in love once again ….how can I possibly live without him…..the man who marry and vow to take care of me for the rest of our lives…..

Lost in Space – Sitti Navarro Music Code
Lost In Space
(Lighthouse Family)
Sometimes I get tired of this me first attitude
You are the one thing that keeps me smiling
Thats why Im always wishing hard for you
cause your life shines so bright
I dont feel no solitude
You are my first star at night
Id be lost in space without you
And Ill never lose my faith in you
How will I ever get to heaven, if I do
Feels just so fine
When we touch the sky me and you
This is my idea of heaven
Why cant it always be so good
But its alright, I know youre out there
Doing what youve gotta do
You are my soul satellite
Id be lost in space without you
And Ill never lose my faith in you
How will I ever get to heaven, if I do
And Ill never lose my faith in you
How will I ever get to heaven, if I do
And Ill never lose my faith in you
And Ill never lose my faith in you
Guys, I’m sorry to disappoint you now. I can only share some songs that were part of our love story….(mommy is busy…)

No more missing remote control

Oct 24, 2009 under Review | 2 Comments

Ondemand

Now you see it, now you don’t. Well I’m talking about our remote control at home. When one of my kids is fixated on watching her or his favorite show there is the tendency for the poor remote control to ’self disappear,’ lolz. It will resurface when the program has ended. How’s that? One of them is hiding it somewhere so no one would dare switch channels. Naughty kids. :D

With Charter digital my kids will no longer argue about what show to watch first. They will have free access to over 6,000 movies and shows On Demand. My son can watch Spongebob on his allotted time, while my daughter can catch up with the latest buzz on E-News. As for me and hubby we no longer have to worry about missing a movie or two. And we can still watch our favorite classic movies on a whim. Hubby is also excited about the many HD shows available.

For Facebook users and those who are always online you’ll be glad to get updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page.

I’m glad the ‘mystery’ about the missing remote control is finally over, hehe. Thanks Charter digital! :D I’m sure you want to learn more at charter.net/ondemand
