GT: My favorite bag(s)

Sep 30, 2009 under Weekly meme | 8 Comments

For the month of October and November, GT will talk about our favorite things. This week the theme is about favorite bag. I’m showing you two of the remaining bags I used to bring at work.

 Our Tribe backpack

Suede messenger bag

I can only load my tape recorder, notepad and some toiletries inside the first bag, while the messenger bag though its heavy is versatile. Its stylish even if it carries a lot of stuff. I used to love these two bags but now they are just fixtures inside our cabinet.

I hope my daughter would appreciate my bags and maybe use them even if they are no longer in fashion. Visit more girls here and see how glamorous they are with their favorite bags in tow.  Happy GT day!

A prayer for typhoon victims

Sep 30, 2009 under Causes | 3 Comments

This prayer originated from Fr. Stephen Cuyos of Happy Faith and Mommy Ana of the Filipina Mom in Denmark is sharing this to me.

Prayer for the victims of the typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana)

Loving Father, you are our shelter and our hope. We come to you with hearts full of trust in your love and mercy.

We pray for the victims of tropical storm Ondoy. May those who have lost homes and properties find shelter, enough food and clean water. Comfort those who are traumatized and those who are grieving for the loss of their families, neighbors and friends. Bless those who are sick and those who are injured that their health may be restored and their wounds cured. May you lead all who are stranded or lost back to those who love them. Guide the hands of the rescuers, the doctors and nurses and other volunteers and give them strength as they serve others with joy.

May this calamity bring people closer together, to help each other and to care for the environment. Give us the faith, the hope and the love to carry on. This we ask through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

I’m sharing this to all my online buddies.

Listening to Papa Jack is habit forming

Sep 22, 2009 under Hobby | 2 Comments

Sorry may pagka-bakya ako ngayon pero I’m listening to Papa Jack’s radio program over 90.70 Love Radio. Influence ko si hubby dito. Napangkinggan kasi niya minsan ang program ni Papa Jack sa bus while he was on his way home from work. The good-looking DJ gives advice and berate if necessary some pasaway na callers in a wacky manner. He holds two programs TLC (True love conversations) aired around 10 p.m. and Wild confessions 12 midnight ’til 2 a.m. TLC usually deals with relationship problems while Wild confessions gives listeners the chance to air their intimate experience. The caller has the option to reveal the details of his or her intimate moments. Papa Jack however discouraged young callers to go into the details. He would simply ask the caller if he or she feels sorry for what he did or what happened to him or her. And let them promise not to do the act again by making them recite a funny mantra like…”di ko na gagawin ang blah, blah…sumpa man…suman, palaman, batman, pacman…so on. LOLz

While this guy is gaining so many followers/listeners, the prudent cast doubt on his ability to give advise as the program allegedly touches sensitive discussion on sex that may affect or influence young listeners. Personally, I don’t think Papa Jack’s program is anchored towards that. I think his programs only serve as leeway to a much more important issue of sex education to the broader spectrum of reproductive health (e.g. contraceptive use).

One more thing, Papa Jack’s program was able to bring to the fore a rape case involving a teenage girl who was molested not by one but two family members. He offered to help the girl to bring her case to the proper authorities. The segment generate public concern. Callers urged Papa Jack to help the poor girl. Haven’t heard of of the case since then. But at least Papa Jack has done his part to let the girl talk and probably open up to the appropriate people…

Activities my kids enjoy on a rainy day

Sep 22, 2009 under Kids | 2 Comments

My kids know exactly how to keep themselves busy during the rainy days. If I am to enumerate what those activities are then I would be answering Earth’s question for her rainy day contest which goes something like this. “What fun actividies you do indoors or outdoors to make your rainy day fun?”

Well, here’s what my kids do to while away the time. Depending on their mood on a particular rainy day, they either spend their time watching TV or DVD movie, play the computer, read books, listen to MJ or Lady Gaga, sometimes draw and last but not least eat. We rarely take a nap in the afternoon so me and hubby (if its a weekend) would join our kids in watching the latest DVD movie.

If you are interested to be part of Earth’s online contest visit her site now for more details and see what’s in store for you once you are picked as the lucky winner.

I heard Earth will be giving away day passes to Island Cove, an Island Cove Spa treatment, gift certificate at TGI Fridays, gimmick pass to Padis Point and facial treatment at Fucoidan. Hurry and join the fun. Contest end on Sept. 23 (Wednesday).

Pixel Bugs: Bookstore

Sassy mom of  Sassy Mom’s Corner is launching her first weekly photo meme called Pixel Bug in time for her birthday celebration today. Happy Birthday Mommy Salen! This meme doesn’t have a theme. It only requires photos (and of course a description) that highlights our weekends.

Yesterday, my family went to National Bookstore Quezon Avenue Branch to avail the last day sale promo. We headed to the preteen section as usual. My kids already knew what title to look for so we were able to finish the book hunting before we take our snack. These are some of the pictures that highlight our weekend.

We were greeted by James, a four-year old Golden Retriever police dog lazing near the entrance door.

We had fun yesterday I hope you did too. Let’s visit other weekenders here at Pixel Bug (just click the badge above) and see who are Sassy Mom’s well wishers. Have a pleasant week ahead everyone! (^_^)/

MEME award

Sep 20, 2009 under Tags/Awards | 1 Comment

I got this MEME award from my online friend the lovely Shie of Shie’s Asylum. Thank you, sis!

What does meme mean? In the context of web logs / ‘blogs / blogging and other kinds of personal web sites it’s some kind of list of questions that you saw somewhere else and you decided to answer the questions. Then someone else sees them and does them and so on and so on.*

Here are the rules of acceptance:

1. Acknowledge the person who sent you the award.
2. Share your 7 personality traits so we can get to know you better.
3. Nominate 7 other blogs.

* I’m married with two children.
* I used to have an interesting job, but decided to quit in the hope of putting up a small business and personally attend to the needs of my children.
* I love to watch feel-good movies, thriller and horror flicks.
* I’m a procrastinator, a bad habit I know.
* I enjoy being alone. That’s why I only have a handful of friends.
* I wish to travel as far as my feet can take me.
* I enjoy blogging and meeting new friends online.

I hope that tells something about me. I’m passing this tag to the following belles of the blogosphere:

PhotoHunt: Upside down

Sep 19, 2009 under Uncategorized | 2 Comments

This is Teddy. Mr. Bean’s (Rowan Atkinson) best friend. We have grown to love this dark brown teddy just like Mr. Bean. Teddy is inanimate but Mr. Bean pretend that it is alive. This week’s Photohunt is about upside down…haven’t had any photo that would match the theme so I decided to make Teddy (it’s my son’s oversize key chain)  my model and made it lie upside down. Mr. Bean will surely love this photo of Teddy.  ^o^

Love to see more upside down photos? Visit tnchick.com. Have a pleasant weekend everyone! (^_^)/

Girls Talk: I love me!

Sep 17, 2009 under Uncategorized | 11 Comments

Niko of  nikoganda.com is running her first ever meme called Girls Talk and I have been invited to be part of its historical launch yesterday (Thursday). ;-)

For its initial theme titled ‘I Love Me’, participants would simply answer the question ‘Why you love being a girl?’

So here it goes. I love being a girl because I can easily change roles from being a mom and a wife to the next without much effort. I don’t need to change my wardrobe in performing all those roles, well except for the last part when I need to be my husband’s slave at night. LOLz. Kidding aside I love being me because my husband admires simplicity in a girl. He wouldn’t go for girls who are too girly or too flirty. I love being me because God gave me two wonderful kids I wouldn’t be able to meet or have in another life. I just love this life. I love being me. I love our simple family life although I still pray to God to make it a little more comfortable for our children. And lastly if I’m not a girl, I wouldn’t be joining Niko’s meme here.

I would like to invite my friends U. Pink and Shie to join our GT activity every Thursday.
