Tricks they employ during campaign

Election candidates resort to different gimmicks to get the attention of potential voters. They engage in various publicity stunts such as hiring singers and dancers as front during campaign sortie. Candidates also give out colorful items like promo keychains for easy recall. I think these campaign device will work well or appeal to recipients if they don’t display images of candidates as big as the giveaway item. Personally, I would ignore items like that if I receive one. Also, the name of candidates should be well placed so the items will not look cheap. People want something pleasing to the eye or fashionable (or wearable if it is a shirt or something). At the end of the day, these items will no longer matter to voters when they are decided whom to vote for. What is important is that candidates were able to reach out to voters and get them to understand their message (election platform) across. I hope everyone will decide and vote on May 10 according to the dictates of their conscience.

What beauty can do to win the hearts of voters

I saw movie and television actress Ara Mina yesterday morning while campaigning with her father in our area. The actress, who possesses one of the pretty faces in local showbiz, is running for councilor in Quezon City. Her father Ismael “Chuck” Mathay III, who is her spitting image, is pinning his hope to win the congressional spot for the 2nd District this election. I heard that the patriarch Mel Mathay Jr. (was not present in the campaign sortie) is also planning to regain his former post as city mayor. Look like someone is building an empire once more.

Ara Mina is already in her 30’s, but from afar she looks so much younger. With her flaw less complexion, I doubt that she’s applying wrinkle cream or related beauty products to maintain her youthful glow. She’s like a breath of fresh air, but will her beauty propel her candidacy this coming May 10 elections? We’ll see about that. 🙂

The North Face 100 conquers Baguio-Benguet

It’s all systems go for The North Face 100, the Asia’s 1st Trail Running Ultra Marathon series in Baguio-Benguet this weekend.

The two-day event (April 24 – 25) will put to the test the endurance of elite athletes, mountain climbers, outdoor buff and those who simply love an active lifestyle who will conquer the difficult paths, knife ridges and the treacherous mountain trails of the country’s summer capital.

The exciting event will surely be a crowd drawer as participants will vie for the 11K, 22K, 50K or 100K solo races. It will be the longest and most thrilling test of the athletes’ staying power as they pass through the unexplored path of Camp John Hay, the PMA grounds, Mt. Sto.Tomas and Tuba with a fitting finish in the iconic Burnham Park.

I think one of our friends Marce Fedhz (this I have to verify with Marce Pehpot) and her partner will join the tnf 100 on Sunday. We may not be there to root for the couple, but we’ll (the Marces and their other friends) be praying for their triumph. Break a leg Fedhz and Mike! Cash prizes and medals await the lucky winners. I wish Fedhz and Mike will bring home the bacon. 🙂

The 22K starts at Lake Drive Burnham Park, 5.30am; April 25 2010. The 11K starts at Camp John Hay Old Gate (Fronting Nevada Square) 6am; April 25 2010.

This is a marked course. Total Elevation gain: TBA. Highest point: 2,062 masl.
