Spring Cleaning Your Budget

It is time for spring cleaning, and those backsplash tiles aren’t the only things that are messy. Chances are your budget could use a little cleaning too. Focusing on just a few areas can yield hundreds in savings each month.

Get Insurance Quotes

Your mortgage may be fixed for 30 years, but your homeowner’s insurance is a different story. Car insurance rates also change drastically over time as drivers age, liens shrink and tickets drop off your record. Spend an afternoon reviewing your coverage and average costs in your area. You may want to email or call your current agent, but also do a search like insurance quotes lodi ca in case a move to a new company is in order.

Consider New TV Strategies

Cable and satellite television rates keep going up but watching television can become cheaper than ever. Options like Apple TV require a pricey initial outlay for equipment but allow subscriptions that add up to just a fraction of your current monthly bill. No matter which devices or services you choose, most alternatives will produce an overall savings in just a few months.

Look At Different Phone Plans

Mobile phone carriers raise rates regularly, but people often stay with the same carrier year after year just to avoid the hassles of switching. If you live in a place where coverage varies little from one provider to another, switching may be worth the hassle. Prefer to stay with your current carrier? Okay, but remember companies offer new plans all the time. Review your actual usage and see if one of the more recent packages will serve your needs while saving you money.

Eat At Home More

Add up what you spend each month on restaurant food, including nice dinners out and grabbing a quick lunch on the go. You will be shocked. It is much cheaper and healthier to make food yourself. This one is better for your wallet and your waistline—how can you go wrong?

Spring Cleaning! How to Tidy Up Your Garage Space

Spring is the perfect time of year to take back your garage and tidy it up. If your garage is filled to the brim with too much stuff collecting dust, it’s time to go through everything, declutter and make your garage the perfect space for your car again. In the fall and winter, if your garage is too full for your car, the best option to keep your vehicle protected is a car storage bag. Once the temperatures start to rise and the days get a little longer, take time to work on your garage so it can finally be the space you want it to be. Here are steps to get your garage back.

Clear Everything Out

First, take everything out of your garage. Set aside a time in the spring, such as a holiday weekend, to tackle this big project. Recruit your family and kids to help remove all items from this space and get back to a completely empty space.

Deep Clean All Surfaces

Once the garage is completely empty, next, you’ll need to do a thorough deep clean of everything. Clean the floor, the garage doors, the walls and any other surfaces remaining in the garage. Remove dust, cobwebs and anything else living in your garage space.

Donate or Sell Unwanted Items

Instead of putting everything from your garage back into the space or moving stuff to some other part of your house, take time to declutter your life. Hold a garage sale for things you don’t use anymore, or take some items to a thrift store for donation.

Create an Organization System

If you want to avoid having a garage overrun with stuff again, you’ll need some sort of organizational system. Install shelving, hooks or another system to keep items in the right place.

Once you’ve got your garage ready and refreshed, it’s time to park your car inside. Don’t forget to buy the best indoor car cover or car storage bag from California Car Cover to keep your vehicle looking great. Check out this link for some details.

It’s that time of the year again

Every year I do some spring cleaning before or right after Holy Week. It’s not my panata or a promise performed during Holy Week, its just a cleaning habit that I do around this time of the year. I started doing my one-week laundry yesterday. The tedious part of sweeping and dusting will have to wait till I hang the clothes later in the day. I’m also planning to sort out some old clothes and shoes that we no longer use. The notebooks and books from the previous school year will need some dusting too. They have accumulated dust since they are placed in a wooden rack. I’m thinking of replacing the cabinet with kuat racks so I could stack more used books and notebooks in it. I hope to accomplish everything on my cleaning to-do list.
