Run for your health, run for Pasig River

A total of 101,010 marathon runners coming from various sectors are expected to join the largest charity run to be held in October.

The event called 10.10.10 RUN FOR PASIG RIVER is part of the “Malinaw” advocacy, one of the many initiatives of the ABS-CBN Foundation to restore the Pasig River. “Malinaw” advocacy was launched last April 15 by the Kapit Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig (another effort of the ABS-CBN Foundation) and their partners. The advocacy aims to bring back the glory of Pasig River and mobilizes various communities in action.

The event might be another glorious entry of the Philippines to the Guinness Book of World Records as thousands of runners from government offices, schools, business corporations and other sectors will merge to support the rehabilitation of Pasig River.

I’m sure even the marathon runners that I have mentioned in my previous post (the Baguio-Benguet race) will join the charity event (or social movement as organizers call it) to raise awareness and for funds to clean the river.

The clean-up drive may take time but aren’t we glad there are committed individuals and organizations who are willing to protect and preserve what is left of the once majestic river? I’m sure many of you share the same sentiments as mine. I want my children and their future children to see the Pasig River clean and sustainable.

So mark you calendar for the fun run this October because I’m sure you wouldn’t want to miss this occasion.

There will be four major starting points – SM Mall of Asia (3Km), Luneta Park (5Km), The Fort Bonifacio Global city (10Km), and SM Markina (21Km), all converging to one finish line at the SM Mall of Asia where a grand celebration will be held after.
