Keeping the House in Order

My college friend said living with two energetic boys is not easy. She said they are bound to forget a litter somewhere or make a clutter of their things at any given day. The boys are bound to make a mess at one point or another. Leaving a scrap of paper there or a bunch of candy wrappers here, she said she’d probably have nurses uniforms hanging from the bathroom door handle if they had them. She said she try not to fret and stress much about it but there is really no easy way to keep the house in order especially now that the boys are home longer for the summer vacation. My friend said she can count on his boys to clean after themselves but they can only do so much of course, they are kids after all! So, what she did was placed carry-all baskets in strategic locations around the house and make sure garbage bins are also visible in the bedroom, the bathroom and the kitchen. That way, with the boys help, she can keep the house clean and clutter-free.

More on decluttering

It isn’t easy to let go of the things that you bought or gifted to you for sentimental reasons. But if you really wanted a clutter free environment at home, you have to start somewhere. Why not begin from your closet which is stuffed with clothes that you no longer need. Sort out the clothes according to their purpose. If you have a newly purchased Joe Rocket Phoenix 5 Jacket, of course, you can keep it and take it out on winter. Arrange your favorite clothes or the ones you frequently use. Dump the ones that you will no longer wear or serve their purpose, including the ones that are beyond repair. Lastly, donate the clothes to some organizations, someone will be happy to receive them.

Organizing stuff at home

Do you know which part of house organization really gets on my nerves? Decluttering. It’s picking up those things that shouldn’t be there. Caps, jackets, for example, are supposed to be hanging in a rack for easy access. In our case, the kids would hang the caps and jackets on the ear part of the chairs. They are used to that practice for a long time. Now, I’m thinking of looking for coat rack at CoatRacks.com or their cheaper alternative to finally put an end to some if not all my decluttering misery.
