My husband and I were discussing so many things earlier today including the payables and things to buy when I get my eon card this week. All of the things that he mentioned are really easy to acquire if we have enough budget, I mean really big budget to use. First on our list is actually to set a schedule to our dentist. My kids and hubby need tooth filling and cleaning and for me, I have to get a new set of dentures. I told hubby we should prioritize dental care to save our kids’ teeth from bad tooth decay. I know we are expecting to spend more than a thousand for the whole cleaning and tooth filling procedure. If only we have applied for a short term health insurance NC, we will be able to save a portion of the costs of the dental care. In times like this, hubby and I realized the importance of health insurance for our family.

I’m not sure how it is calculated. But if there’s someway to measure it, I would definitely get a low or the lowest score. LOL! I am emotional and afraid to admit it could lead me to something not good. My emotions sometimes prevail over situations that need mature judgment. My emotions had led me to some unpleasant situations in the past and I haven’t got over some of those issues until now. I’m a cry baby and easily affected by the slightest thing or situation that happen before my eyes. I’m just thankful that my husband is always there to support me and offer a shoulder to cry on. Some friends are also there for me when the load is too heavy to bear. Ang bigat naman ng post na ito. LOL! On a positive note, mababaw naman ang happiness ko, friends from way back can attest to that.

Asbestos mesothelioma is one of the incurable diseases that can afflict a person exposed to asbestos for an extended period. The other diseases are asbestosis or pulmonary fibrosis, calcified pleural plaques, lung cancer, pleural thickening and laryngeal cancer.

Five years ago local health and environmental experts have warned that the country would experience the peak of asbestos-related deaths 10 to 50 years from now if asbestos use is not abated. Asbestos is considered one of the most toxic chemicals being used for industrial purposes.

The products known to contain asbestos include fiber cement boards, packaging materials, gaskets, and friction and mechanical parts such as brake and clutch. Some major building projects such as malls, gasoline stations, airports, and several condominium projects use fiber cement boards.

While 40 countries have already ban asbestos use, Metro Manila-based companies are still importing an estimated 4,000 metric tons of asbestos for the local manufacturing and distribution of various asbestos-containing products.

There have been efforts by the government to regulate the importation, manufacture and use of asbestos and the storage, transport and disposal of their wastes. However, the order was not strictly enforced because of the government’s limited manpower and technological deficiency.

I’m not feeling well since yesterday. I have runny nose, weepy eyes and occasional sneezing. I’m afraid I might transfer the virus to my kids who will have their monthly test on Thursday and Friday. They can’t afford to miss school so I need to exercise extra care so they wouldn’t catch a cold. I have taken a cold medicine and supposed to be resting early, but here I am still banging on my poor keyboard so I could meet my work deadline. Anyway, since I’m under the weather, my reliable hubby is always there to the rescue. He doesn’t need testosterone booster to wash our clothes and iron our kids’ uniform this evening. My ever understanding husband even washed the plates and utensils after dinner. Even when I’m not sick, hubby is always there to help around the house. I’m such a lucky wife. Achoo!

I’m amazed at the willpower of some women who can follow the best weight loss plan without starving themselves. I personally know active moms who triumph over obesity by observing certain dieting technique.

For me losing weight is a lot easier said than done. I’ve tried dieting on banana and oatmeal for two weeks and I can say I’ve shed a pound or two. I didn’t continue though because there were occasions when I couldn’t resist eating carbohydrate-laden food. I’m a rice person so I’m back to my old ways of binging on rice and my favorite viand.

Have you seen Happy Diet News? If you are tempting to go on a serious diet you can check the best reviewed diets for 2010. You can try the best diets that work for you at happy diet news, however, be careful in taking anything without consulting your family doctor just to be on the safe side.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome or SARS is a viral respiratory illness transmitted through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and bodily secretions from an infected person. It manifests flu-like symptoms.

At the height of the SARS scare in 2003, DOH (Department of Health) beat people have no other recourse but to cover and write about the latest update on the health malady.

I want a different perspective of the story so I designate myself to visit the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, one of the DOH’s assigned government SARS centers in Metro Manila. The other one was found in San Lazaro Hospital in Manila.

I have planned to come up with a news feature and a profile story from the interview with front line health workers who are directly handling suspected SARS patients.

The idea is quite scary isn’t it? What was I thinking then? We are not even covered by a medical insurance just in case me and my co-workers catch the virus during the coverage. I don’t even have the slightest idea of the existing life insurance rates. Also, I have two little susceptible kids to worry about.

But there’s no turning back. With only surgical masks and alcohol as our protection we proceeded to RITM.

My photographer was all worried to enter the RITM premises, but I assure him we are not going to meet a patient inside as we are not allowed to do so.

The interview and hospital facility guided tour turn out well. I felt good about myself as only few print reporters at the time including those from TV were able to visit the SARS referral center.

I did it all for the love of my job and goal to get a first hand account. After all the worries, I get to see my story published the following day.

Fortunately, none of us get sick after the coverage. Thank God.

I took a little break from what I’m doing to look for inexpensive health insurance at cheapinsurance123.com. In times like this I can never be sure of what will happen tomorrow. I know how it is like when someone is in the hospital. My son was hospitalized in 2004 due to Kawasaki Syndrome. We don’t even have a medical insurance to cover the medical expenses. Our savings was used up to pay for the hospital bill. After my son was discharged from the hospital we still need to send him for follow up check-up and to purchase maintenance medicine to avoid complications. A health insurance could have spared us from incurring more debts. The health insurance that I’m looking for is just to keep us prepared for the rainy day.

If you are an expectant mom, there are a lot of things to consider before taking any medicine or vitamins. Prenatal check-up is a must for pregnant women. Doctors monitor the development of both mother and child. Only doctors can tell you if you need any medication or vitamins to keep you and your unborn baby in top form. They will give you prescription of certain vitamins that you can purchase in drugstores. You can always visit the nearest private or public hospitals in your area to avail prenatal services and you will know what I’m talking about. Just a piece of advice, consult your OB-Gyne first before buying over the counter prenatal vitamins. The same care should be exercised in taking food or beverages that aren’t fit for consumption by pregnant women. Just be wary of anything you take for your sake and your unborn child’s health.
