I have tons of pictures to organize in my drawer. All pictures of our family mostly taken on special occasions were stack up in a large carton including their negatives. They pile up since I stopped buying photo albums to place the pictures. I wish digital frame where created during those days so I don’t have to worry about our pictures getting yellowish and faded because digital photos are displayed in the frame instead of printed ones.

The last time hubby look after our kids was when I left for Leyte for a pre-election coverage in 2006. I left the house early in the morning to catch a flight to Tacloban City. I make a lot of reminders to hubby not to forget to remind the nanny to prepare everything the kids need for school, breakfast, vitamins and snacks. In the afternoon or just before hubby left for work, I would still remind him to check on the kids when they arrived from school. At night, we would also talk about the kids and ourselves like how our days went. I appear to be makulit or persistent here, but actually my husband knows what to do without enumerating all of it to him. Even now that we don’t have a househelp, I’m confident that he can take care of our kids and run the house with ease while I’m out to run errands. Hubby can cook a little, but do the laundry and ironing so well. He also maintains the house spick and span. With all his qualifications, don’t you think hubby can make a good stay at home dad?

Hubby got his motorbike three years ago as company’s payment for his unpaid vacation leaves. I was hesitant to have that motorbike at home because I don’t want hubby to drive it to work. You know how unsafe our public roads for motorbike drivers especially at night. He passes Commonwealth Avenue everyday. And you know that Commonwealth Avenue is accident prone especially for motorbike riders.

For a while, I allow hubby to drive the vehicle. But on his own, he decided not to bring the motorbike anymore because he thoughtit’s more convenient to ride a bus or Fx on his way home. Imagine he can sleep or relax listening to his mp3 while travelling. We useour motorbike these days as our service in going to the market and run errands. Just last summer, we used it to visit La Mesa Eco Park to save for transportation fare. Our motorbike has been a great help to us, but we haven’t applied for any insurance especially auto insurance for it.

I took a little break from what I’m doing to look for inexpensive health insurance at cheapinsurance123.com. In times like this I can never be sure of what will happen tomorrow. I know how it is like when someone is in the hospital. My son was hospitalized in 2004 due to Kawasaki Syndrome. We don’t even have a medical insurance to cover the medical expenses. Our savings was used up to pay for the hospital bill. After my son was discharged from the hospital we still need to send him for follow up check-up and to purchase maintenance medicine to avoid complications. A health insurance could have spared us from incurring more debts. The health insurance that I’m looking for is just to keep us prepared for the rainy day.

This is a post-Mother’s Day entry. Originally, the questions were provided by Marce Jade when she requested her friends and co-Marce to write something about motherhood based on the following questions…Marce has yet to post mine, so I thought of sharing it here. I hope she won’t mind.

This is just a glimpse of who I am as a mom I or what I think of motherhood based on my experience. Here we go…

Who are you?

I’m Yami. I’m a stay-at-home mom, wife and blogger.

What is motherhood like?

Motherhood has changed my life forever.

When did you know you are ready for motherhood?

I’m already 26 when I got married. I thought it was the right age to have a baby and I can’t wait to give my husband the best gift that I can give him. I’m so excited that I can bear even the pungent after-taste of pregnancy vitamins…

What challenges did you face during the first years of being a mother?

I have to sleep late or wake up in the wee hours of the night to mix baby milk or change diapers and when they are under the weather. During the day, I have my mom and a yaya to look after my kids while we are at work. Yes, I used to be a working mom.

How many children do you have and do you want more?

I have two kids who are both taller than me now (Naomi, 13; Khalil, 10). We have no plans of having another baby because it’s no longer safe for my age and we can’t afford to support another child.

What’s the best thing in being mother/ parent?

The best part of being a parent is when you know you have raised your children the way you want them to be.

Is there anything you dislike about being a mother/parent?
I’m easy to anger. I really don’t like myself when I’m angry. I tend to spoil my kids. I also dislike myself when I can’t keep a promise to my kids sometimes..
Despite the high and low moments of being a mother or parent, there was never a moment that I regretted being a mom to my kids.

What advice would you give to new mothers?

Take each day with your new baby as it comes. Everything about motherhood comes naturally. Although there are books or elders to refer to once in a while, the best teacher will be you.

What are your plans for the future for you, your family?

We hope to give our children a better future.
For myself, I wish to receive more online opportunities to help augment the family income.

My husband has not seen his parents for a long time, but he sees to it that he calls them on special occasions. He shares to our kids how his Tatay and Nanay as parents and how well they taught each one of the eight kids the values of Christian living. They were poor in material possession, but never in spirit. They read the bible as a family and goes to church regularly. My husband even joined and won a Bible Exposition at age 10. No wonder hubby grew up to be a good person. As a dad, hubby is not a strict one. Sometimes he has the tendency to spoil the children. Nevertheless, he sets a good example to our kids by being a responsible person, Dad and husband to me.

By the way, last week husband’s sibling called up to inform us that Nanay is in the hospital. Hubby is worried about her mother’s welfare. We thought at first that she might need an inogen oxygen concentrators (it’s a portable oxygen therapy). It turned out that Nanay slipped and broke her leg. I’m not sure if my MIL is released from the hospital, but from the last conversation, she is recuperating well.

My sister and her ex-boyfriend used to operate an Internet cafe. But they were forced to close down for failure to meet the high cost of operation including the exorbitant rentals. Somehow my sister blamed the lack of trusted people to man the shop when they are not around. The person left to oversee the business during daytime may have been too lax in performing her duty so they failed to meet their target earning. They should have installed wireless security systems at the time the computers where set up. Security cameras will help them monitor dishonest customers and negligent supervisor. My sister has learned her lessons well. She will never venture in the same business in the future.
