If you have little kids in the house, chances are cleaning up after their playtime might just be a tad tedious for you to take. That is why it is a must that you designate one single room or a specific part of the house for the children to play in. Making a playroom out of their bedrooms might just not be a good idea, it is best to reserve that portion of the house for resting, studying or sleeping only. Maybe you can convert one of your guestrooms to be a temporary play area and relocate all your children’s toys there, yes including those colorful 3d puzzles your youngest tend to leave just about anywhere. If not, you can always allow them to play in the living room or the den, just make sure to keep anything breakable out of their reach and provide a closet or a big box where they can stash all their toys away every time they are done playing, that way they can participate in cleaning up and you have one less mess to worry about!
I did some spring cleaning at home and its quite liberating that I accomplished a lot of things in two days, completing 90 percent of my pre-Holy-Week to-do lists.
My big kids finally let go of their kiddie stuff – from magazines to stuff toys. Feeling a little sentimental disposing those huggable toys, I picked out some and keep them hidden until I have a cabinet to display them permanently.
Remember these toys? My kids finally bid goodbye to them. I decided to give the sack-full of toys to the grandchildren of the old lady who used to do our laundry for more than eight years.
I also gave out some of our old clothes, bags and shoes to Manang. The few remaining items are scheduled to be sent to their new owners in General Santos City, mostly my husband’s young nieces and nephews.
I finally get rid of stack of papers, pamphlets and magazine accumulated over the years when I was still working. I just kept some documents that I think might be helpful in my future blog posts.
De-cluttering is not yet over. I still have some cabinets to be cleared (or Laminate flooring installed this week.
I did the cleaning in two days while nursing a really bad stomach. I think I’m still suffering from stomach flu until now, but I’m happy to say that my home is less chaotic to see right now. 😀
Remember these toys?
These are the same toys that I’ve already placed inside a sack and plastic bags last October. I made a post about it here. My kids have planned to sell them to the kids in the neighborhood. They were supposed to raise their own money for Christmas. But for unknown reason, the mini garage sale did not push through. Some of these toys are bought cheap, but they are memorable to them and to me. I still have second thoughts of letting these toys go…This year, I’m planning to donate them to orphanage as friends have suggested… I hope to make children in the institution happy even for a little while… 🙂
